Asked Questions

See below for some common questions about my produce, urban gardening and consultation services through Little Lighthouse Farm.

  • What’s the best soil to plant in?
I always plant in healthy soil. I recommend Arizona Worm Farm’s soil mix since it’s a complete blend, rich with natural nutrients. They also offer a great mulch for a proper topsoil cover.
  • How do you grow your produce in the Phoenix desert dirt?
It's all about understanding the microclimates in your yard. Microclimates are environmental factors including temperature, light, wind speed and moisture, all things that are necessary for healthy, nutrient dense soil. Coupled with knowing what plants you can grow seasonally in the desert, I can help you grow anything in your Phoenix garden.
