My Story
A black female owned regenerative urban farm and garden consultant.
In 2022, I founded Little Lighthouse Farm to offer nutrient dense produce, pasture run eggs and organic seeds to the community. After seeing the personal benefits of this practice, I began offering garden
consulting for those who want to cultivate their own
edible landscapes.
About Little Lighthouse Farm
I’ve always had a passion for farming. Growing up, my mother was a haphazard gardener who would throw seeds into the ground and hope for the best. Cooking wasn’t her forte so when she grew these beautiful vegetables in her garden, she would admire them instead of eating her hard wrought work. As peculiar as her gardening practice was, I found it endearing and strived to also have a green thumb.
When she passed away in 2020, I let her patchwork of a garden get overrun. But grief is a fickle thing, and through ecotherapy, the process of nature healing and supporting mental health, and digging into the soil her own hands once cultivated, I found peace and a renewed love for gardening.
My rejuvenated love for the earth led me to learn about regenerative agriculture, farming in harmony with nature to protect soil health.
This process positively impacts climate change, so for me it was not only a therapeutic practice, but I was seeing the benefits in my own garden while advocating for the greater good.
To use a garden pun, from there it grew. If I could grow real food for people while also positively influencing the future of our planet, I had to do something to make a larger impact.
In 2022, I founded Little Lighthouse Farm, a black female owned regenerative urban farm offering nutrient dense produce, pasture run eggs and organic seeds to the community. After seeing the personal benefits of this practice, I also offer garden consulting for those who want to cultivate their own edible landscapes.
My mom loved lighthouses, and she herself was a guiding light to anyone who was lucky enough to know her. In fact, she guided me on this journey, so naming my agricultural practice after her was only natural.
It’s in her honor that I pick up my spade and guide people back to the land, back to the practices that work for you, your family and our earth with Little Lighthouse Farm.
